REVIEW: Rimmel Glam'Eyes Quad Eye Shadow in "Thrill Seeker"

** quick reminder that my 100 posts / 50 followers giveaway ends in a week!! **

so following my Annabelle Leopard Bronzer post, here's another item i picked up for a toonie! not only was this item a great deal but it also had a color i have incessantly been hunting down.

i picked up Rimmel's Glam'Eyes Quad Eye Shadow in "022 Thrill Seeker" (4.2 g) mainly because of the top gold color. i have been searching high and low for a pigmented gold that was more yellow rather than bronze or brown.

for the first week that i used this, i didn't even notice that there were two suggested looks on the back (which is also why my swatches below are not in the same order). and what a coincidence that this quad happens to complement brown eyes.
i personally preferred using the yellow on the inner half of my lid, the dark gray near my lash line and then the  forest green near where my crease should be :)
natural light; artificial light

the color payoff of these shimmery eyeshadows were good - the two darker shadows were the most pigmented but they were also slightly chalky. i don't usually wear light grays and i wish the yellow gold was a tad more vibrant. after about 8 hours of wear (without primer), the yellow had faded on me and after 9.5 hours, i experienced creasing in the inner corner. but by this time, it's just my oily eyelids to blame.
Rimmel doesn't seem to have this particular shade listed on their website anymore, but they do have other Glam'Eyes eyeshadows as well as Glam'Eyes HD.
do you know of any fabulous golden yellow eyeshadows out there that will fill this void? let me know!

REVIEW: Rimmel Moisture Renew Cream Lipgloss in "Fuchsia Therapy"

i picked this lipgloss up yesterday at Rexall. again, i was drawn to the sales and the yellow tags.
it was on sale for $3.26 but i paid $3.08 after taking my 10% SPC discount (first time i used it here!! who knew??). i believe the original price was $7.99.
the majority of the shades had a ton of glitter in it. i was torn between "Comfortably Nude" and "Fuchsia Therapy". you can already tell by the names that these are on opposing ends of the spectrum. i ended up taking home "Fuchsia Therapy 345" (6 mL) because
1) it is such a fun vibrant color that i do not currently have in my collection,
2) i wanted a gloss with little/no shimmer in it and
3) nude glosses usually tend to be super sheer on me so i rather not take that risk. i admit i do not usually wear such vibrant colors but maybe i'll start...

it comes in a rectangular tube with a purple reflective cap. if you look really closely, there is some blue glitter in it, which i hear is great for bringing out the whiteness of your teeth.

there is a floral scent that i can only detect when i am applying the product. the wand is a flat sponge applicator. the color appears more sheer on me than in the tube. you can see some of the blue shimmer in the artificial light photo.
top right to bottom right: artificial light; natural light

this Rimmel lipgloss contains Vitamins A, C and E and it is in fact, very moisturizing. the intensity of the color as well as the shininess begins to fade about an hour after application but the moisturizing effect remains. a major plus is that this lipgloss is not sticky. i usually hate wearing lipgloss in the car with the window rolled down because my hair likes to suction itself to my lips. what is very strange is that, the US versions of this product has an extra bonus: they have SPF 15 while the Canadian versions do not. i have no idea why this is - i would have preferred that extra sun protection.

overall, it's just an okay lipgloss - i've seen better (i.e. Essence Stay with Me lipglosses). i wouldn't buy it again since the color payoff and the length of wear is not the greatest. i still prefer Rimmel lipsticks to their lipglosses.
thanks for reading! sooo what's your go-to lipgloss?

REVIEW: Rimmel Kate Moss Lasting Finish Lipstick

hi everyone!
i saw the Rimmel London Kate Moss Lasting Finish lipsticks on sale at Shoppers recently and i couldn't resist. regular price at Shoppers was $6.99 but they had a "buy 2 for $7.00" sale so i went home and did a little research on the shades. after thinking long and hard, i decided to buy shades 08 and 12 (it's too bad that the lipsticks don't have any names!)

there are currently 15 colors available - a few are quite daring; i don't know anyone that rocks a dark purple everyday. i think 7 colors were released first (last year) and Rimmel have expanded the collection since then. there were a few colors i also wanted to try especially since i want to find a nude lipstick that doesn't wash me out (03 or 07 maybe?). i guess i went the safer route and bought the two colors that i liked and have seen swatched often.
the lipsticks come in a sleek black case with the Rimmel brand around the middle and the crown on the slanted top (similar packaging to their other Lasting Finish lipsticks).

the lipsticks are 4 g each and have their distinctive Rimmel scent (the sweet fruity smell). they glide on super easily and leaves a shiny finish. they feel quite moisturizing for a lipstick. however, if you apply it with a lip brush it is more drying so you will probably want to run a gloss over it. they have lasted quite a few hours for me but doesn't survive eating and all that.

quick shot of my bare lips (in artificial lighting):

first up is 08 which is a somewhat nude color that has a pink base (? i really don't know the proper lipstick terminology).

i took pictures first in artificial light, but found that the bathroom lights made the lipstick look a lot different than it actually was so i have also included pictures taken in natural light.
as seen here, the artificial lighting made it look more coral-ly than it actually was while the natural light gives you a much better idea of the actual color. i find this color complements my skin tone. it is definitely a shade that you can wear comfortably everyday that gives you just enough color to make you look awake.
top to bottom: 08 in artificial light; in natural light

aside from searching for the perfect nude, i was also looking for the perfect coral. i have made plenty of attempts and my search has been futile. to me, "coral" means a soft orange color but my previous contender - a Maybelline Superstay 24 Color - disappointed me (more on this later!)

anyways, here is 12 - it looks like a darker orange but i figured that it might look different on me since my lips are quite pigmented.

in artificial light, the orange looks quite bright but in natural lighting, it is much more toned down which i really like. this one is a fun summery color that i'd personally wear all year round.
top to bottom: 12 in artificial light; in natural light

i figured that since i took pictures in both types of lighting, i'd do it again for swatches on my arm:
left to right: 08, 12
top to bottom: artificial light, natural light

overall, i love the color payoff of these lipsticks - super pigmentation! i'm excited to try more but i keep finding myself overloaded with lip products but continue to purchase them anyways... if i find them on sale again, i probably won't resist (again). :)
