WANTABLE: December 2014 [Accessories]

small things like this sticker stating who packed my accessories box and that it was packaged especially for me make me like Wantable more. it feels like we have a more personal relationship. by the way, i like Miguel - this was a pretty great box.

the information that comes with the box is formatted slightly different this month, like this list of my order details. i prefer this look - it looks much cleaner than before.

1) Cora Necklace

first up - the Cora Necklace. LOVE this! it's very pretty and i love the different shades of blue.

2) Marina Earrings - Gold

retail value: $18.00

these earrings are beautiful. they perfectly fit the preferences i selected - studs and geometric designs!

3) Estella Ring - 6

retail value: $12.00

simple but not typical at the same time. looks almost flat when looking straight down at it. not uncomfortable at all.

4) Olivia Bracelet - Gold

retail value: $16.00

this gold bangle with an anchor design is just too cute! the loop can be unhooked from the anchor and voila! fits better on your wrist.

total box value: $78.00
amount paid: $47.01 (still pretty pricey)

thanks Miguel for picking out such a fantastic box! i've actually worn all of these items multiple times, even all at the same time. there's gold in almost all of the pieces so they can easily go together.

WANTABLE : October 2014 [Accessories]

today, i stayed home sick. lessons learned: do not consume expired miso paste.

let's get the last October box out of the way shall we?

1) Emily Maynard : Natalie Bracelet

retail value: $65.00

i was definitely intrigued when i pulled this fancy box (and pouch) out. looking at the name, it sounded like a celebrity... and then i remembered. her name was plastered on many tabloids by the checkout lanes - Emily Maynard was on the Bachelor who later became a Bachelorette. i haven't followed the show since Bob from season 4 and Trista from season 1. and Wikipedia tells me there has been 29 seasons of the Bachelor and Bachelorette! 29!

anyway, back to the Natalie bracelet. this brass ox-plated cuff is adjustable. the cuff has been hammered flat and does not feel heavy.
this is the most expensive piece i have received from Wantable, but sadly it is not something i would wear. check out the sale board for a great deal :)

2) Delany Earrings

retail value: $16.00

uhm no. definitely not me. these just scream 80s to me. the plastic is not impressive either. 

3) Harper Rose Earrings

retail value: $18.00

okay, did we do a 180 here? cause these earrings i love!
possibly my new favs. they are so easy to wear. small but definitely does the job. 

4) Shannon Ring

retail value: $9.00

i don't know how i feel about this ring. different but interesting... it doesn't look horrible but just... different. i could try to make it work but it is a tad big. it is slightly loose on my thumb so i am thinking it is a size 7.5 - 8?

so October's pieces are all over the place - i can't really see myself wearing two or more of them together. i received two pairs of earrings - one pair is totally my taste while the other one is the completely opposite!

WANTABLE: August 2014 [Accessories Box]

The August Accessories Collection features blogger/YouTuber Rachel Weiland and includes vintage-inspired pieces to help you prepare for the fall season.

i really like the pieces in the main picture (shown in the middle frame) with the antique gold tones. three of the four items i got were silver though. :(

1) Sydney Bracelet 
retail value: $18.00

pros - i like the pop of colour with the teal gem and how the bracelet can wrap/unwrap around your wrist.
cons - it is too loose so it doesn't quite sit right. it also feels a tad cheap - the metal band is very light.

sadly, i do not think i will be keeping this. check the sale board! (along with another item or two listed below)

2) Clara Watch
retail value: $24.00

the white straps on this watch have a plastic, low-quality feel to it but i like the face of the watch and how it's large size contrasts with the thin straps. the face is very simple but that will only make it harder for me to read. 

Wantable suggests wearing this watch with a coloured wrap bracelet which i think would look quite pretty.

3) Alissa Earrings
retail value: $12.00

i didn't think these earrings were all that cute at first but they are starting to grow on me. Wantable calls these horseshoes but they look more like wishbones to me. who else remembers Wishbone the TV series?

4) Pria Necklace 
retail value: $21.00

this necklace features 6 pressed round discs of different sizes. the length is adjustable but the lowest it hangs is around 18".

i am not super impressed with August's box so i logged in to my account in hopes of updating my preferences by retaking the test. however, Wantable just updated their website and that option was nowhere to be found! so i went ahead and skipped the month. probably better for me and my finances anyway.

WANTABLE: July 2014 [Accessories Box]

it's the day before i head to Florida and what i should be doing is packing but i will feel more complete if i was able to get all my July boxes out of the way. 

here's the last box for the month of July! it featured Danna Ann who is an 'expert' (of what, i am not sure) but i do like the majority of her jewelry selections.

i am not sure if this has been happening for a while now (since i skipped reviewing a few months worth of Wantable boxes) but there's a personal touch with the sticker on the box and the jewelry comes in these velvet pouches now.

 the July box contained four jewelry pieces:

1) Francesca Necklace
retail value: $18

this is not something i would normally choose myself but i can see myself wearing it. i like the detailing on the tree as well as the contrast with the coin.

2) Jodie Bracelet
retail value: $14

this is a unique piece... i've never seen a bracelet that is half leather and half gold like this. the white stone is very nice but the main problem i have with this is that it is not very secure. the leather does not wrap tightly around the stone so if it is hanging loosely on your wrist, it may just unhook and fall off.

3) Brittney Earrings
retail value: $24

cute earrings! i never say no to bows.

4) London Ring
retail value: $14

eeeeeeeeeh. not a fan of adjustable rings. plus, the smallest size it can be is just small enough to fit on my middle finger. 

3 out of the 4 pieces fit my preferences, although the bracelet is too loose for my liking. still, the box is quite pricey and i will be skipping months in the future. i only got up to July as a birthday treat.

is anyone still subscribed to Wantable? they seem to have a variety of other types of boxes now.

WANTABLE: January 2014 [Accessories Box]

awwww i just finished series 2 of Doctor Who - i already expected that to happen because years ago i was curious what Doctor Who was all about so that season finale clip just happened to be the only thing i saw...

anyway,

January Accessories Box featuring Nikki Minton
i have to admit that i forget to skip my monthly subscription ... and i forget often ($46.57! i really need to stop!). which also means i don't update my preferences on time.

 three items in the January box:

1) O'Keeffe Ring in 'Size 6'
retail value: $15.00

meh - this silver ring does not impress me much. the size and shape looks slightly awkward on my hand - like it's missing something.

2) Dulce Bracelet
retail value: $28.00

wow this is heavy! this chunky multi-gold toned bracelet is a bit too big for my taste but if you are channeling Cleopatra, you can probably slide it up and wear it as an armband... it is elastic.

3) Matilda Necklace
retail value: $34.00

yes! finally a hit. this gold chained necklace with stones is definitely a statement necklace. it definitely has some weight to it. i really like the colors here - gray, onyx and crimson.

so that's the box! i like 1 out of 3 items. that's not the best ratio... i'm going to stick around for one more box - just because it's my birthday month next so... but from then on, i will probably start cutting back!

going to open my Fancy box next to cheer me up after watching Doctor Who... :(

WANTABLE: December 2013 [accessories box]

oops so i got lazy! gahh work is so busy with quarter end and my taxes are due... wait, overdue? yikes! 

one thing i did get done is booking my Orlando trip in August!! i'm super excited! but there's another trip... later this month that i haven't booked yet. i should just do it! but just last week when i was going to book it, my credit card failed me and prices have slightly gone up since then and i keep waiting for it to go back to what i could've gotten... ughh. don't you hate that??

December's Accessories Box and my preferences: 

Vivian Zhu (who picked the items) only chose 3 pieces this month:

1) Olivia Headband 
very retro feeling. the Style Tip says to pair it with a messy updo. if only i could... i find that the messy hair look is actually so difficult to achieve! who else has this problem?!
the headband is a little too big/eye-catching for my taste but it's sorta cute. not twenty-four dollars cute though.

retail value: $24

2) Bessie Necklace 
hands down my favorite item in the box. i don't own any thick linked chains like this and so i was a little unsure when i took it out of the box. it is surprisingly light. it's simple yet it can totally dress up an outfit in an instant.

3) Lottie Ring (size 6)
i have an important announcement to make... Frankenstein and i got married!!!!

but for realsies, i had to analyze this in depth the second i saw it. odd isn't it??
i ... do not know what i chose in my preferences (above) that would've selected such an item for me. it's just so strange. i can't remember if i said i loved statement rings... but this is indeed it.

i took several pictures to show you the size of it. personally, i find it reaaaaally big. i think i would keep knocking into things or getting it caught on something. FYI, those nuts actually spin.

sooooo i really don't feel like i got my moneys worth in this box. Wantable boxes are quite expensive and if you only like 1/3 items, it's not a good sign.

quick mention about their packaging! they switched it up to these foam pieces which i think does a better job at protecting your accessories.

WANTABLE: June 2013 [jewelry box]

last June box post!
this one's about my second box from Wantable. after my free May box, i decided to take another risk and pay (almost full) price for another jewelry box.

the June Jewelry box cost breakdown was:

June's Jewelry box is slightly different in that it includes accessories like sunglasses, headbands and scarves. it features Lara Eurdolian, an 'accessories expert'. i edited my preferences on June 20 and that was the same day my order was confirmed so i am not sure if my new answers were taken into account...

the answers i changed/added were (you can see my change in preferences after my reaction to my May box):

• type of accessories - sunglasses -- like; headbands -- like; scarves -- dislike
• type of materials - multi-tone -- changed from love to like 
• type of bracelets - bangle -- changed from like to love
• type of earrings - hoops -- changed from like to dislike
• scale of earrings - statement -- changed from love to like

in summary:

the box was shipped June 27 and landed in my mailbox on July 8. the contents of my box?

1) Sunny Sunglasses (2792)

nothing super crazy here. sunglasses usually look too big on me and my nose is never high enough to have it sit properly on my face. i don't think they look horrible on me - but someone did compare me to a bug when i wore these floating down the river.

the quality is alright with these sunglasses. doesn't feel flimsy so that's good. and it comes in a black drawstring pouch. UV 400 means that up to 400 nm wavelengths are filtered or reflected (see wiki). i will be putting 'Sunglasses' on my dislike list since i just wanted to try it once and see what i get.

retail value: $15.00

2) Maggie Bracelet

my least favorite item in the box... only because this is just not my style. at first, i really really disliked it but when i look at the pictures, it's not that bad. i just don't like how big and extravagant it looks on my wrist. the bracelet is adjustable in a sense since you can squeeze it around your wrist but i couldn't get mine tighter than this.

retail value: $26.00

3) Láska Necklace

these, more specifically the earrings, are my favorites from the box. i don't absolutely love them but they are cute - i like how these two pieces go together. i am not sure if i am actually supposed to get both of them since only the necklace is listed on the sheet. the necklace is cute but if only it was longer in length! i also found it difficult to match the necklace with any office attire so i have to save it for the weekends. the earrings on the other hand, are very easy to wear - very simple, very pretty.

retail value: $24.00

4) Beatriz Earring

hmmm so these earrings are just okay. they look a little too 'thick' for my liking.

retail value: $20.00

total retail value = $85.00

$85... not very believable in my books. i also wouldn't have actually forked over $41 for these items. i hope some of the cost was not for the new, fancier packaging. even though it looks good all packed individually and with a background sheet, it is a waste of paper/packaging.
i am pleasantly surprised that none of these items have caused any irritation. i thought it might be cheapie jewelry at first but it is not too shabby (definitely not worth $85, mind you).

i would like to say that i would probably have not gotten another box after this, but i forgot to skip... so stay tuned for another review (... and another - i am rather forgetful).
